In July 2020, I decided to join Rilion Gracie Doral and was instantly hooked on jiu jitsu, but at 38, my body began to betray me. Early on I suffered a quad and shoulder injury and spent more time rehabbing then fighting so l needed to make a change in order to continue competing. I met Danny Lopez from Team Soul where he was able to develop a weightlifting program geared towards the needs of grapplers and jiu jitsu practitioners. Furthermore, it is catered to my exact needs and goals. After only a few months, I have strengthened my legs and shoulder and have been able to consistently be in the gym. No matter what sport you’re in I highly recommend cross training with Team Soul. Their staff is very helpful and knowledgeable, and they will get you back on track for any of your fitness goals.
My time at Soul has been awesome! I will definitely say that the biggest asset that the gym has is the incredibly knowledgeable and carrying coaches. Not kidding, everyone from Sean, to Nate, to Sergio: top notch. I also really appreciate that there’s a variety of options for every type of athlete. We are all at different points in our lives and with that comes different priorities. It’s refreshing to see a gym that gives us options included in our package from weight training to quick in and out WODs.
August 24, 2021. I don’t think I will ever forget that date. It’s the day I decided to stop making excuses and made a change to better myself. From the first moment I walked into Team Soul, I knew it would be different. Almost a year in and I am the healthiest and best version of myself. At Soul I am constantly surrounded by people that motivate and inspire me. From my fellow athletes to some of the greatest coaches I can think of, every aspect of Team Soul leads to one thing, bettering one’s self.
It’s been a little over two years since I walked through the doors of Team Soul as a new, VERY scared and intimidated member, wanting to be an Olympic weightlifter and I’ve never looked back. The knowledge and skills I’ve gained while being here have created a very night and day difference between my pre-Soul lifting and my current lifting, not to mention the friends and family I’ve made along the way. The connections I’ve made are valuable to me, my coaches and teammates are like a lifeline to me. I’m very grateful that I listened to those who told me I should join Soul. Once you’re Team Soul, you’re always Team Soul and I wouldn’t have it any other way. I’m happiest when I’m with my Soul fam and I can’t wait to see the continued growth for myself, as an athlete, and the gym as a whole! It’s a Team Soul takeover, folks, don’t say I didn’t warn ya 🙂
My daughters and I joined Soul in 2018 chasing fitness goals. However, we gained something far greater; family. The culture, environment, and passion that exist is amazing and contagious. Through guidance and patience, coach Aleman has played an instrumental part in all three of our weightlifting journey . Furthermore, thanks to coach Danielle’s personal nutritional guidance, my daughters and I now know what/how/why healthy & balanced eating looks like. Due to my BJJ training, I deal with injuries/limitations that affect my current strength/conditioning training. I am fortunate to have such an educated family at Soul to help my daughters and I navigate our journey and mitigate injuries. SOUL IS HOME!
