Stay up to date with our current barbell cycles for Olympic Weightlifting and Powerlifting: Team Soul Weightlifting This next weightlifting cycles focuses on assistance work, meant to increase single leg strength, core strength, and overhead stability to improve lifts and promote injury prevention. We will also be doing more positional and pause work to better build strength in positions. The first six weeks of the cycle will focus on assistance and building but we will then transition into a more traditional 12 week competition cycle. 7-DAY TRIAL Team Soul Powerlifting As we begin the new cycle, these next 8 weeks are going to focus on hypertrophy. Preparing for Sport of Fitness or what most of us call “CrossFit” events is no easy task. Whether we are talking about exercise selection, time domain, program design style, etc…. This sport has an overwhelming amount of moving parts and can be very challenging to analyze and plan for. I’m not just talking about helping an athlete get conditioned for an event. I am speaking about building a fully comprehensive training plan that begins 9-12 weeks before an event. A program that addresses all major aspects of fitness while still using data and history from the event we are preparing for. We had the privilege of competing at our good friend, Carl Penney’s, yearly weightlifting competition, Palm Beach Open. PBO has become not only a staple in our competition calendar but also one of the major meets in all of South Florida. For me, this was the first meet I have been able to coach at since the 2019 American Open in Park City Utah. I wasn’t quite sure what to expect as a meet like PBO can be a mixed bag of coaches, athletes, teams, etc. Meets like these can run the gamut from World Team Members to a 9 year old taking their first lifts on a competition platform. To be quite honest… That is a very good representation of our team at the moment and it showed this weekend. One of the reasons...
