Team Soul Running

At Team Soul, we believe a real running program should be about much more than simply going out and logging miles.

A complete running program should help people move better, recover faster, stay healthier, become more durable, and improve overall performance both during and outside of the run itself.

That is exactly what this next cycle is built around.

Our next Off Season Running Cycle will be an 8 week program geared toward improving your 5K time while continuing to build strength, improve durability, and support long term progress.

At the end of the cycle, Team Soul will host our first Team Soul 5K on July 25th at Tropical Park in Miami. This will be a free community event open to members, friends, and family. The run will be timed and added to our leaderboard for the Top 5 Male and Female finishers.

No giant production. No over complicated race setup. Just the Team Soul community showing up together and putting our work to the test.

This Program Is for Beginners AND Experienced Runners

This cycle was designed for both beginners and experienced runners alike.

Whether you are preparing for your very first 5K or trying to set a lifetime 5K PR, the goal is the same: put all the pieces together and become faster, healthier, more resilient, and more confident in your training.

One of the reasons we chose to begin our season with a 5K focus is because it is one of the most approachable race distances available. Almost anyone can begin training for a 5K regardless of experience level.

For newer runners, this cycle will provide structure, guidance, pacing education, recovery work, strength training, and support while gradually building volume and confidence over time.

This is not a crash course designed to immediately overwhelm people with excessive mileage or nonstop hard running.

As the months continue, volume, pacing demands, intensity, and overall workload will gradually progress as runners improve their fitness, durability, recovery capacity, and running efficiency.

For more experienced runners, think of this as an opportunity to reset, improve pacing, improve efficiency, rebuild strength, sharpen mechanics, and continue developing your running performance without constantly living in a burnout phase.

The goal is long term progress and consistency.

Not just surviving hard workouts.

A Real Running Program Includes More Than Running

Too many running programs only focus on the running itself.

Run more miles. Push harder. Add more volume.

But a real running program should also include proper warm ups, cool downs, strength work, mobility, plyometrics, accessory exercises, pacing guidance, recovery strategies, and support work for all the smaller muscle groups that often get neglected.

That is Team Soul.

Our running program is built to help members improve while continuing to support overall strength, health, and performance.

If you are searching for a beginner friendly 5K program in Miami, strength training for runners, or a more complete hybrid approach to endurance training, this cycle was built for you.

What the Weekly Structure Looks Like

The weekly structure of the cycle was built carefully to support both performance and recovery.

Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays will include strength work, accessory work, prep work, and plyometrics.

You will see traditional plyometrics, carries, calf work, core stability work, explosive exercises, decompression work, and support exercises designed to improve running efficiency while helping members stay healthy and resilient.

Strength work will continue to focus on compound lifts while incorporating accessories that support running rather than interfere with it.

The goal is to continue building strength without taking away from running performance.

Mondays will also include optional aerobic conditioning that can be performed on any mono structural machine including the Echo Bike, C2 Bike, Rower, Ski Erg, or similar equipment.

Tuesdays will mostly focus on speed work. This is where runners will improve pacing, turnover, running mechanics, interval tolerance, and overall efficiency.

Thursdays will focus more on tempo work, recovery based sessions, or active recovery work.

Weekends will continue to feature our longer runs, helping members improve aerobic development, pacing awareness, confidence, and overall endurance.

Below is an example of what Week 1 of the Team Soul 5K Program looks like.

Why Strength Work Matters for Runners

Many runners completely neglect strength training and the smaller support muscles that help keep the body healthy and resilient over time.

As mileage and running intensity increase, those weak links often begin showing up as calf issues, foot pain, knee discomfort, hip instability, or low back problems.

At Team Soul, we want to address those problems before they become bigger limitations.

Strong runners tend to be more durable runners.

Proper strength training can help improve posture, force production, joint stability, running economy, tendon health, power output, and overall resilience while also helping runners maintain muscle mass and overall athleticism.

This is why theTeam Soul Running Program continues emphasizing compound lifts, accessory work, carries, calf strengthening, core training, and explosive work throughout the season.

Built Around the Team Soul Community

Another important part of this cycle is flexibility for the Team Soul community.

Many members are also participating in CrossFit classes, strength training, hybrid training, or general fitness programs throughout the week.

Because of that, we will also make suggestions on what types of workouts members should choose on certain days in order to support their running rather than interfere with it.

Everything is designed to work together.

At Team Soul, we are always looking at the bigger picture.

How hard should you push?

When should you recover?

How do we improve performance without constantly beating people into the ground?

How do we continue building strength while improving conditioning?

How do we help members stay healthy enough to remain consistent long term?

That is the difference between simply exercising and actually training.
